I wanted to keep fit during pregnancy, and the free swims offered by Bristol City Council helped!
Swimming whilst pregnant felt fantastic, especially during the hot weather! And being active felt far better than sitting inside trying to avoid the sun. Despite the challenge of fitting in swims around work commitments and tiredness, I found making time to swim helped, and I was able to take the load off my back.
It felt liberating to strip off into a bikini with the bump- people stared, but I enjoyed it so who cares! My advice for anyone thinking of taking up exercise while pregnant would be to ‘embrace it’. Swimming has also helped me turn off from the stresses of daily life and I can just concentrate on myself and the baby.
