Have fun and socialise while you exercise. If you can find someone to look after the kids for an hour, instructor led group exercise classes are a great way to get active with a group of like-minded people. Lots of classes are suitable for beginners and all classes should let you work at your own pace.
Classes at your local leisure centre can be more affordable. Check to see if any offer creche facilities, or women only sessions.
If you’re a new mum, look for post-natal classes that you can bring your baby along to and exercise gently with them.
Find an activity that’s right for you and you will really feel the benefit. If you’re getting puffed out, it’s good for your heart, if you’re lifting something, it’s improving your strength, and if you’re leaving the class feeling positive, it’s good for your mental health.

Feeling nervous? Just remember that everyone starts as a beginner at some point, so don’t let that first time fear hold you back.
